St. Lawrence of Brindisi (1559-1619)

Lawrence was born in 1559 in the Italian city of Brindisi. He joined the Order of the Minor Capuchin Brothers, and he taught Theology to his brothers and carried out diverse charges and jobs. Untiring and eloquent preacher, he traveled all over Europe. He wrote numerous work on faith. While distinguishing himself by his great love for the Eucharist and his filial devotion to the Virgin, He ended his career in Lisbon in 1619. Canonized by Leo XIII in 1881. John XXIII gave him the title of Apostolic Doctor in 1959. His remains rest in the Clare Monastery of Villafranca del Bierzo (León).
