Bl. Innocent of Berzio  (1844-1890)

September 28

Born in Nardo (Lecce), Italy in 1844. Once finished with his studies in the diocesan seminary, he was ordained presbyter, and after a short time serving ahis apostolate at his diocese, he joined the Minor Capuchin Brothers in 1784. He was assigned to diverse contents, but it was mainly in the Holy Annunciation Sanctuary un Borno where he found his path to sainthood and lived his ideal: to forget and immerse himself in continuous prayer, in the fulfillment of the humblest tasks of priestly ministry and fraternal service. Died in Bergamo in 1890, his remains currently rest in the parochial church of Inferior Berzo. Made blessed by pope John XXIII in 1961.
