St. Felix of Nicosia (1715-1787)

Felix Santiago Antonio Amoruso was born in Nicosia, Sicily in 1715 to a poor family with great Christian values. He was admitted to the Order of the Minor Capuchin Brothers in 1745, at the convent of Nicosia where he devoted himself to the humblest of tasks with a great spirit of service and evangelical simplicity. He distinguished himself by the purity of his practices and the observance of the strictest poverty, heroic obedience and charity towards the ill and incarcerated. Died in Nicosia on May 31, 1787. Leo XIII approved his veneration in 1888 and Benedict XVI canonized him in the year 2005.
