St. Fidelis of Sigmaringen (1577-1622)

He was born in Sigmaringen. Germany in 1577. He obtained a PhD in Philosophy and Law in Freiburg, Switzerland. He practiced Law with such love for justice that he was nicknamed the “poor man’s lawyer”. After joining the Order of the Minor Capuchin Brothers and being ordained priest in 1612, he was a tireless preacher among Catholics and the separated brothers. He achieved his desire to give his blood life for the Catholic faith, being martyred in Seewis, Switzerland in 1622. He was canonized by Benedict XIV in 1746. He is the pro-martyr of the Fide Propaganda Holy Congregation.
