St. Veronica Giuliani (1660-1727)

Born in 1660 in Mercatello (Pesaro y Urbino), Italy. At the age of seventeen she joined the Clare Capuchins monastery in Città de Castello. Through austerity of life and high contemplation, she endeavored to mimic Crucified Christ from whom he received the holy stigmas and other signs of his passion. She put to paper her spiritual experience in the form of a journal, treasure of wisdom that has provoked a pro doctorate movement. Filled with virtues and mystical graces, she died in 1727. She was canonized by Gregory XVI in 1839.
