Easter Greeting
Br. Roberto Genuin
General Minister of the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin
Dear Brothers!
It’s good to connect with you again after some months. During this Lent, here in the Curia, we prayed the Stations of the Cross together after Evening Prayer on Fridays. A very simple moment, but also a very beautiful way of participating in the Lord’s Passion.
This Lent I have reflected many times on how the Lord falls under the weight of the Cross. He falls once, twice, three times … the thought occurred to me: it’s possible that we could be a little ashamed before the Lord who falls under the weight of the Cross. A little shame for who we are, for what we do, for how we may have failed to be about what is good. Shame can be a very good tool for not being too proud and not believing that we ourselves are the protagonists of our salvation. But it can also be something that blocks us. How many men are blocked by the awareness of their wretchedness.
It must not be that way for us! The Lord in the Resurrection frees us also from shame, so that we can have eyes that shine with his light and a heart that radiates his warmth.
On this occasion I want to say to each of you: don’t stop! The Lord heals, lifts up, sets us back on the journey! I hope that each of you in this Easter will have eyes that shine with the light of the salvation that comes from the Lord, a heart that expands with love for the people, for the brothers – they will know right away if we have that! This is my wish for each of you, to experience this in your lives.
Thank you for your journey, brothers. All the best and happy Easter!
