Bls. Agatangelo (1598) and Casiano (1607-1638)

August 7

Agatangelo was born in Vendome (France) in 1598. In 1619 he joined the Capuchins. From 1629 to his death, he spent his life in missions; as superior in the Cairo Mission, he went great lengths for the union of the Coptic with Rome. In 1637 he was sent as superior to the new Ethiopian mission along with Casiano who, being born in Nantes (France) in 1607, had professed with the Capuchins in 1623. They both suffered martyrdom in 1639. They were named blessed in 1905 by Pius X.
