In an atmosphere of fraternity, contemplative silence and deep prayer, the Capuchin Minor Brothers from all the presences of Mexico and Texas met last week to carry out their annual Spiritual Exercises. The setting of this retreat was the Padre Pío House of Prayer, a space transformed for several days into a cenacle of listening, dialogue and shared fraternity. Under the slogan “Our charismatic identity as Capuchins”, the conference was led by Brother Harold Arlés, General Counselor for the Conference of Capuchins of Latin America (CCH).
With a close word, deep and rooted in the Franciscan sources, Brother Harold guided the friars on a journey of internalization that invited them to return to the essentials of the gospel: minority, contemplative silence, community life and joyful service among the most needy. During the week, the brothers from different communities in Mexico and Texas took a break from their daily work to come face to face with the Lord.
The hours of silence and shared Eucharistic celebrations allowed to intertwine the diversity of their realities in a single experience of faith.
